Business Challenge

As InPost's parcel volumes continue to grow, increasing pressure is placed on the capacity of its existing locker network. During peak periods, longer parcel dwell times can reduce locker availability, potentially leading to parcel redirections, additional operational costs, and a less efficient use of existing infrastructure.

Solving The business challenge

Solving The business challenge

Solving The business challenge

CHALLENGE

How might InPost increase the efficiency of its existing locker network as parcel volumes continue to grow?

USER PROBLEM

Customers have little motivation to prioritize parcel collection once their package arrives.

DESIGN GOAL

Increase locker turnover by reducing the time parcels remain uncollected. Reduce parcel dwell time.

Q1.

Success Metrics.

I defined the following KPIs to measure the impact of the feature. The primary KPI is Average Parcel Dwell Time, measuring how long parcels remain in lockers before collection. Secondary KPIs include Same-Day Pickup Rate and the percentage of parcels collected within the Green Pickup window, helping assess whether the incentive drives earlier collection.

Q2.

Business Impact.

By reducing parcel dwell time, the feature could increase locker turnover and improve locker availability during peak periods. This could help InPost handle more parcels through its existing infrastructure, while potentially reducing the need for parcel redirections and additional operational capacity.

Q3.

Projected Impact.

The concept aims to reduce parcel dwell time and increase locker turnover without requiring proportional expansion of the existing infrastructure. A potential 20% reduction in average dwell time is proposed as a hypothesis to be validated through testing.

Q4.

Validation.

I would first validate the experience through usability testing, followed by an A/B test comparing the existing parcel screen with the Green Pickup experience.

Q5.

Design Rationale.

The reward stays visible without distracting from pickup, while the pixel-art direction draws from InPost’s existing visual identity.
